Uploading BI Report Output to Content Server

Introduction

One of the major requirements of an ERP Application is to facilitate data transfer to and from to third party application. While some organizations are fine by using an Export/Import feature the recommended approach is transferring the extracted data (flat file) to unix server. And then either via using a push mechanism (from source system) or a pull mechanism (from consumer application) the flat-file is transferred to the target application system (unix-server).

While HCM Extracts (preferred outbound tool) used to support uploading the file to Content Server (also referred to an Universal Content Management Server) starting Release 13 we can upload the output of BI Report to UCM server too.

In this article we would try to demonstrate how do we upload the file to content server.

So let’s get started.

Uploading BI Report Data to Content Server

For this example we would use a already existing report (BirthdayLetterReport) and we have to use the schedule option and fill in the following details in the Destination Section:

Attribute Name

Attribute Value

Destination Type

Content Server

FA_UCM_PROVISIONED

Sample Schedule to Upload BI Report Output to Content Server

Include Custom Metadata

Checked

Once populated the UI screen would appear as below:

We need to check that the job has completed successfully (Job Name was “UploadJob”)

Verification

Now that we have seen that the BI Report Job has completed successfully we would try to validate and check whether the file actually got uploaded to content server. We can perform this verification two ways:

  1. From File Import and Export Link

We would need to navigate to following Menu Item

Navigator->Tools-> File Import and Export and then search for File as “BirthdayAlertFile

2) From Content Server Link

We would need to type the Content server link in the Web Browser and then search for file

The content server link ishttps://host:port/cs
